Syed is the founder of Earth Aid, an international NPO. Earth Aid's core causes are assisting the UN to achieve the sustainable goals by 2030. Training In A Tab and Training With VR are two flagship projects initiated by Syed. As an ethnographic researcher, he is exploring how modern technology can be used to provide disaster preparedness training to the mass. Before founding Earth Aid, Syed also hold senior advisory positions in BRI (Basic Rights Initiative) and Srizoni, Bangladesh. 

Syed is a trained Computer Engineer and a business graduate, currently pursuing his PhD in Educational Technologies. Syed is an experienced inspector of public and private further education colleges. In his career span of ten years, he has demonstrated his abilities to hold various senior management roles within the sector. His consultancy includes but not limits to QAA, ISI, ASIC, BAC and other Ofqual regulated Awarding Organisation’s inspections. Syed is well known within the sector for his multi-dimensional educational qualifications and ability to work within those dimensions with ease.

Syed as an educationalist and has been professionally active in various Quality Assurance roles within further and higher education sectors in the UK. His most-recent position was as the ‘External Quality Assurer’ of OTHM and ‘External Verifier’ of ATHE. Before that he was the ‘Dean of Studies’ of the London campus of ‘Cambridge Regional College',’ which is one of the largest providers of full-time further education for 16 to 19 year-olds in the region, with more than 4,000 full-time and 6,000 part-time students. Syed was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2012. In the same year he was also elected as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In 2014, Syed was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society.
